10 DAILY HABITS THAT ARE CAUSES OF STRESS
We all know the feeling: sweaty palm, heartbeat racing, and panic accelerating when we realize that we have too much on our plate and not enough time to do it all. Stress can put us out of action, and can adversely affect our lives in many ways. Sometimes, we just need to take a break and have a mentally healthy and stress-free day. If you constantly find yourself in the situation where you want to pull your hair, then you may have some habits that are causes of stress. So it is clear that you need to make some serious changes and what better time than NOW.
We have a list of certain habits that are causes of stress.
1. EXCESSIVE VENTING
Sometimes all we need is a sit with our friend, and talk our heart out. However, venting is healthy, only in small doses. If we only talk about negative things, then we are only going to think about negative things. A stressed person will always be talking about issues and dragging it on forever. While it is healthy to get things off your chest, but once you have let it all out; get it at rest. Talking too much is not going to make any difference.
2. TOO MUCH CAFFEINE
We obviously cannot tell you to stop consuming caffeine altogether. However, cutting back on the amount of caffeine you consume can be a great way of dealing with stress. Too much caffeine on our system can result in unnecessary anxiety. So minimize your caffeine intake to avoid being unnecessarily on edge.
3. UNHEALTHY FOOD
Usually, when we are worried, we try to find comfort in the food. For example, we find an extra cheesy pizza or ice cream as the best solution at hand. Although junking usually makes things worse, maybe not at that moment, but yes eventually things can get bitter. So next time when you are stressed out and want to have a snack, go for food that helps with anxiety or stress.
4. OVERTHINKING
Do you spend hours after chat thinking if you said something offensive or wrong, or you should have said it differently? You know, you might be the only one who noticed that. People with stress issues are likely to overanalyze everything in their life and come up with an issue where the issue doesn’t even exist. So instead of over thinking, stay positive.
5. OVERLOADING THE PLATE
We get 24 hours in a day, and sometimes we try to accomplish more than we can practically handle. So don’t bite more than you can chew, and realize when things get out of hand. Plan your day so that you are able to manage things efficiently without getting overloaded with work. Only take on those tasks that you know you can do, and leave the rest.
6. FOCUSING ON THE NEGATIVE
We all face bad days, but like everything else in life, bad things also come with an expiry date. People who stress a lot only think about the negative things, therefore, leaving no room for positivity. Instead of focusing on the bad things, see the good in them. Also, do more things that make you happy.
7. DOING EVERYTHING BY YOURSELF
A lot of people follow this philosophy “If you want something right, you have to do it yourself” and thus they take so much on themselves. However, the truth is a little help from your friends and family, or others is not that bad. Let people help you, and you might be surprised to how efficiently they can handle the task and also realize it is good when someone lends you a hand.
8. YOU DO NOT EXERCISE
When your schedule becomes tighter than usual, your exercising time is the first thing that you cross off the list. Never do that. It may take a little time, but it is one of the best ways to relieve stress and keeps you motivated. If you don’t have time in the morning, squeeze in a little exercise time before bed. It will de-stress you and ensure a good night’s sleep.
9. DO NOT GET ADEQUATE SLEEP
When you do not enough sleep, you are cranky and sluggish all day. And your tiredness gets the best of you. So make sure you get enough sleep so that you feel refreshed in the morning and feel the best of yourself.
10. YOU ARE RUSHING THROUGH LIFE
When people are always stressed, they are so consumed with anxiety that they forget to enjoy the positive things that life has offered them. Besides, what is the point of all the stressing when at the end of the day you cannot even enjoy your hard work? Take a deep breath, relax and look for your happiness. Because, life is too short and it is meant to be enjoyed to the fullest.
