How is Gordon Ramsey’s weight loss an inspiring story for you as well?
Gordon Ramsey, one of the world’s biggest chefs, infamous for his behavior in the show Hell’s Kitchen, reveals how being overweight led to his life in a menace. Today though, being 53, he is in much better shape than his fellow chefs, but it was not like this from always. There was a time when he and his wife both were remorseful of his appearance. He accepts how being so fat was disgraceful for his self-esteem and his confidence.
He confessed in an interview with The Daily Mail that his wife, Tana, was not happy the way he was and how he looked like a sack of s**t. He even sportingly questioned that how is Tana still with him after all his transformation from bad to worse. His wife herself is a big fitness enthusiast. He weighed more than 250 pounds and was very disturbed about his appearance. Even looking at his photos, he would be ashamed of himself. He also said that it was painful for him to see himself in the mirror looking at his figure. And in spite of receiving 16 Michelin Stars so far, he was low on his confidence.
The Michelin Star chef admitted that his overweight was due to his uneven eating habits. During long working hours and vacation trips, he was really not on his proper diet as he should have been. This is what led to him being a figure of obesity. He added that in his industry, he knew a lot of unhealthy obesity-driven chefs and how it stressed them even to suicide. If not for suicide, they would get caught in the cycle of cocaine due to being depressed. As for the others, obesity led to the vicious trap of heart problems, liver problems and many more.
Having all these things in mind, Ramsay planned a way to get out of his fat figure and get into a good shape. It was the year 2012 when Ramsay began a journey to have his life altered. He was 46 when he started taking his fitness seriously and hired a trainer named Will Usher for this job. He said in the interview that during 2012, his life got a bit busy; he was completely occupied in his work with zero “me-time.” But he never panicked, and along with his exhausting work, he continued to work on his fitness commitments.
Usher was indeed very helpful in his quest for fitness, and he would make Ramsay ride bikes in the gym for a couple of hours and assist him in his other workout regimes for the day, at least 3 times a week. The workout sessions were difficult for him as he never had any previous experience of exercising, but still, he did not back off. The chef has made a dramatic change in his eating habits as well. Now, he stated in an interview with Reddit that he takes 5 meals a day. He does not believe in having dinner at 5:30 pm, but he takes 5 meals at definite times during the day. The meals are not heavy but light and in small bits. He has even claimed that making this change in his lifestyle has led to impressive returns for his body.
Since then, Ramsay has shown immense improvements and has shredded around 55 pounds with his weight now under 200 pounds. He has admitted many a time that his inspiration for fitness came from his wife, Tana. As mentioned earlier, his wife is a big fitness freak and that is why ultimately, she motivated him to be a fit and shredded person. One more reason for Ramsay’s fitness driven attitude is that his father, Gordon Ramsey Sr. died at the age of 53 due to an unhealthy lifestyle. That is why Ramsay is extra concerned about his lifestyle as he said that he does not want to die in his 50’s like his father.
Now, he has come a lot ahead of his poor health issues and is continuously trying to improve his lifestyle. He posts pictures and snaps of his day and workouts on his social media handles, and his fans are admiring his amazing transformation. And him being more than 50 years old adds the extra inspiration that everyone requires to start getting serious about their fitness. Moreover, his time and work schedule is too occupying to give him enough time to work on other things. But still, Ramsay has shown the result of a determined mind. This is how Gordon Ramsay indirectly motivated hundreds of thousands of people.
If Ramsay can shred his body even at the age of 50 and being so immensely busy, then no excuse might get counted for anyone else. All it needs is a determined state of mind and dedication towards what you are doing. Just like Ramsay, you can achieve what you think is difficult.
